The Scugog Shores Heritage Centre and Archives consists of 1500 square feet of exhibit space including "Scugog's First Peoples: A Living History" and a rotating schedule of temporary exhibits. Exhibits will be complemented by curriculum-based programs. Please see below for current programs.

Scugog's First Peoples: A Living History

This new permanent interactive exhibit has been designed to complement the Ontario Social Science Curriculum through fun and stimulating activities. The exhibit contains sensory stations which create an engaging learning environment for students. The audio story station allows students to listen to biographies, quotes and life experiences from First Nations peoples. Students are encouraged to touch and experience the feel of furs, baskets and stone tools. A smell centre reproduces the scents of the four plants sacred to the Ojibway. An array of pictures, maps and text panels teach students about the history of the First Nations peoples and their interaction with European explorers.

November 08, 2011 - February 26, 2012
