The Scugog Shores Heritage Centre and Archives is a 1500 square foot exhibit space home to local history displays, the Scugog Sports Hall of Fame, and the permanent First Nations exhibit "Scugog's First Peoples: A Living History".

Scugog's First Peoples: A Living History

Our new permanent exhibit is designed to reflect the history, both past and present, of the First Nations peoples who have lived around Lake Scugog. The exhibit features hands-on materials, an audio station and other multi-sensory components to provide an interactive story that covers 10,000 years of archaeology, interactions between First Nations and Europeans, and the life of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island today. Funding for this exhibit was provided through a Museums Assistance Program grant from the federal government and a donation from the Baagwating Community Association of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nations.

Scugog Shores Heritage Centre and Archives is also home to a rotating gallery which will include art shows and traveling exhibits from larger institutions such as the Royal Ontario Museum. Our upcoming schedule includes:

November 08, 2011 - February 26, 2012
